OPTML01 is a ground-up, S5-inspired Subaru Impreza build from OPTML Design & Fabrication, combining the unmistakable character of late-1990s World Rally Championship cars with modern performance, extensive carbon-fiber construction, and seamlessly integrated technology.
The objective is simple: create a car that looks faithful to its rally heritage at first glance, but reveals something far more advanced when you look closer.
Target completion: SEMA 2027
The Project
At its core, OPTML01 is an exercise in thoughtful engineering and design integration. Every modification should serve a purpose while preserving the identity that made the original Impreza WRC special.
The build includes:
Extensive carbon-fiber exterior construction inspired by the Impreza WRC S5.
A turbocharged EJ25 targeting approximately 600 horsepower.
A six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive drivetrain.
Performance-focused wheels, suspension, brakes, and thermal management.
Custom carbon-fiber pod mirrors incorporating functional electric adjustment.
Modern navigation, upgraded audio, and a backup camera integrated into the original interior aesthetic.
Bespoke fabrication, CAD development, and custom engineering solutions throughout the vehicle.
The result will be a modern performance build that respects the original design rather than simply replacing it.

This project is being developed by OPTML Design & Fabrication, a design and fabrication venture focused on combining technical problem-solving, digital design, and hands-on manufacturing.
The goal extends beyond assembling aftermarket parts. It is about demonstrating how products, engineering, and fabrication can work together to create a cohesive result.
